| For years, people in Maine have made objects such as quilts, samplers, rugs, carvings, portraits, and other types of decorative and useful objects as a way to express their feelings and record important moments in their life - a marriage, a graduation, a death of a loved one. This original exhibit from the MHS collection showcases objects that reflect the experiences of Maine people and in different ways help us understand the social history of our state. The exhibit is part of a statewide collaboration of eleven museums presenting collections of folk art in Maine. |
